About WKCHC
"The Voices of Children and Families in Western KY”
WKCHC was established in 2000 as a result of
many local organizations serving children and families in western
KY voicing concerns about health issues and the lack of available
services.
Our mission is to bring the issues and the voices of the children and families we serve to policy makers and to work with these policy makers in influencing and developing health policy by creating changes that will:
- improve access to care
- reduce health disparities
- promote healthy environments and lifestyles
The WKCHC’s current work focuses on:
- advocating to increase health access for rural
and minority uninsured and underinsured children and families;
- decreasing health disparities by encouraging healthy lifestyles
and healthy environments; and
- ensuring that policy issues and messages are getting to those
they most affect and teaching those affected to advocate for themselves.
Our voices need to be heard. Now is the time to let policy makers know what real issues are affecting you and your children. Real people can have a real impact on public policy changes.
Please join us in promoting positive policy changes with both our leaders in Frankfort and our local communities.
